• The MMDA is active around the state and nationally in advocating for our members and their residents on a variety of issues.  In 2013 the association, in collaboration with the ombudsman and MHCA, pushed for the restoration of the Mainecare bed hold in long term care.  The association also supported legislation brought on by one of their officers, to emphasis patient choice during hospital transfers to SNF facilities.
  • MMDA officers represent the members at the MMA (MMA board, the legislative committee of the MMA and the payment reform committee of the MMA), the national AMDA public policy committee.  The association is also represented by two delegates in the annual AMDA house of delegates meetings.
  • The association is advocating for better DEA regulations in nursing homes and is working tirelessly on this issue.
  • Another ongoing advocacy effort involves the ACO quality measures and developing quality measure in the state and nationally that can better apply to long term care and SNF settings.
