• Free attendance to members to the two annual MMDA education seminars.  These seminars are geared towards nursing home medicine and provide valuable updates on current care issues.  They also provide an opportunity for long term care professional to stay up to date on emerging clinical and industry issues affecting our nursing home residents. Aside from physicians and Midlevel providers, these conferences are also attended by administrators and nurses.  CMEs, CEUs, meals and parking are always included.
  • ​Supporting members and their facilities with policy and care issues:  MMDA officers provide support and information to members seeking tools to improve dementia care and long term care in their facilities on an ongoing basis.  The association fields calls and emails from members on a variety of other issues, such as contracts and survey compliance.
  • Inservice and education for facility staff and other organizations:  The MMDA officers and members have presented in talks sponsored by other organizations in Maine and nationally around topics that serve their mission to improve long term care and dementia care.
  • ​Research opportunities:  MMDA members are encouraged to collaborate on research opportunities and the association is working on providing a platform for growth in LTC research in the state.  The MMDA supported and presented pilot research data in its 2013 year conference around antipsychotic reduction in dementia care.
  • Nursing home facilities in Maine are encouraged to promote MMDA membership to their Medical Directors, Midlevel providers. Administrators and DONs are also encouraged to become associate members to stay connected and use the information and tools provided by the MMDA.
  • We strongly encourage facilities to invest in their Medical Directors, midlevel providers and top leadership, by financially supporting their membership in the MMDA.
