Being a member of the MaineMDA brings you to the front of the line in terms of using the MaineMDA as a personalized resource on any issues you may have in the field of Geriatrics and long term care Medicine.
We support members with QI efforts and any advocacy issues that align with our mission.
We would also help clarify any confusion on part of facilities about medical directors and physicians work and laws around their work at facilities.
Ultimately, membership is a way to support the MaineMDA do the work it does and continue providing education below cost to Geriatric professionals and nurses.

MaineMDA is proud of the fact that membership fees go in its entirety towards educational activities. Officers volunteer their time, and most of the administrative support is donated time.

MaineMDA as a resource

We provide support and information to members seeking tools to improve dementia care and long-term care in their facilities on an ongoing basis. This is for supporting members and their facilities with policy and care issues.

We will also call and email on a variety of other issues such as contracts and survey compliance.

Research Opportunities

Currently, we are working on providing a platform for growth in LTC research in the state. This is why we are encouraging all members to collaborate on research opportunities. In fact, we have supported and presented a pilot research data about antipsychotic reduction in dementia care and fall prevention.

We are happy to support future community researchers in Geriatrics that focus on clinical issues that matter to our members and their patients

In-Service and Education outside of the annual conference

In line with our mission to improve long-term and dementia care, our officers and members participate in events and provide lectures sponsored by other organizations and facilities in Maine.

If you are representing a facility interested in improving their Medical Director's continuous education and participation in quality improvements

Consider sponsoring memberships for the medical director and DON to connect them with the MaineMDA resources and we will guide them through the process.
